Lithuanian Official Development Assistance 2017

Lithuania’s development cooperation focuses on enforcement of democracy, human rights, good governance and democratic reform, rule of law and building a functioning market economy, sustainable development, education and eurointegration processes. Lithuania also provides humanitarian assistance. The main objective of Lithuanian humanitarian aid is to provide a needs-based emergency response aimed at preserving life and alleviating human suffering. The major share of Lithuania’s ODA consists of the payments allocated on a multilateral basis to the European Development Fund and the portion of its contribution to the EU budget used for the implementation of EU external policy. Bilateral assistance was provided to the Eastern Partnership States, the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and other countries included into the list of ODA recipients by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development.
