There is growing evidence of the increasing burden of malaria among older children and adolescents in different settings in Burkina Faso and sub-Saharan Africa. It is therefore essential to have information on the burden of disease and the factors associated with the increasing burden of disease in this age group and to explore new strategies to fight these trends, as it is essential that all populations are effectively targeted by malaria control interventions if countries are to achieve their malaria control and elimination targets.
The aim of this one-year project is to determine the burden of disease and document the transmission dynamics of malaria in school-age children (5 to 15 years) in the Boussé health district, in the Plateau Central region of Burkina Faso? The project also aims to assess the efficacy, safety, feasibility of implementation and cost-effectiveness of IPTc with SPAQ and DP plus IVM for malaria prevention in this population.
