Description
Building Foundation for Development (BFD) is a non-profit, non-governmental humanitarian organization established in Yemen at the end of 2014 by a group of experienced professionals and experts in the humanitarian field. BFD's mission is to alleviate the suffering of communities affected by wars and disasters. Operating nationwide, it strives to promote equitable and sustainable development, humanitarian response, and other relevant interventions aimed at improving the quality of life and wellbeing of communities and individuals. The organization's approach is two-pronged and innovative. On one hand, BFD carries out multi-sectoral emergency response projects to address immediate humanitarian needs in nutrition, health, WASH, education, shelter, CCCM, protection, food security & livelihoods, and EECR sectors. On the other hand, it focuses on developmental empowerment and capacity building of local actors, underscoring the importance of transitioning swiftly from rapid response to resilience-building methods. This approach is crucial for communities to recover, rise again, and harness their capacities, starting with fostering peace through innovative measures. BFD's programs, spanning various sectors like food security and livelihoods, nutrition and health, WASH, clean energy and environment, protection, education and child rights, shelter/NFI and camp management, economic empowerment, governance, and peace-building, operate in different geographies based on strategic and donor humanitarian response plans. The organization is a trusted partner of a wide array of UN agencies and donors, participating actively in national sectoral groups and international forums like Sphere, ICVA, CHS Alliance, and more. Certified against the Core Humanitarian Standard (CHS) since 2023, BFD's alignment with the 2030 SDGs and Yemen Humanitarian Response Plan 2021 underlines its commitment to poverty alleviation and sustainable development in Yemeni society.

An activity is defined as a project or a programme that aims to achieve a specific objective or outcome in a certain sector or area. For example, one of your activities is the Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL) Programme, which aims to improve the food security and livelihoods of vulnerable communities in Yemen. Yes, we have multi-tiered project structures, where each programme consists of several projects, and each project may have sub-projects or components. For example, the FSL Programme has four projects: Food for Assets (FFA), Food for Training (FFT), Sustainable Agricultural Development (SAD), and Cash for Work (CFW). Each project has different sub-projects or components, such as training, distribution, rehabilitation, etc. We intend to publish details at the programme and project levels, as well as at the sub-project or component levels, depending on the nature and scope of the activity. For example, you will publish details about the FSL Programme and its four projects on your website, We also publish annual reports that provide more details about our activities and achievements.
