IPCG’s works focuses on three main areas activity: 1. Community consensus-building IPCG works towards achieving positive change in the environment of each person by working towards a socially conscious society, employing mediation and dialogue methodologies in order to understand different views and positions and move towards finding common solutions to common problems. IPCG conducted more than 100 dialogue sessions on divisive issues such as the renaming of streets, dismantling of the Soviet monuments, European integration, reintegration of displaced persons, decentralization and local mechanisms of decision-making. 2. Restorative Practices in Schools. IPCG looks to introduce into schools a holistic and comprehensive approach that combines the efforts of school administration, staff, parents and pupils for building an atmosphere of respect, concern and responsibility, through the formation of school centers, where prepared pupils-mediators help their peers resolve conflicts through co-operation. 3. Restorative Justice. IPCG is an active promoter in Ukraine of restorative justice – a process, managed by a mediator, whereby a delinquent and a victim discuss the situation that has occurred together and decide about further resolution of a conflict and questions of restitution, thereby empowering participants in the process of conflict resolution and allowing them to take responsibility for consequences of this situation. A court usually takes this decision into account during sentencing.
