NLR Indonesia is an independent local NGO, set up in 2018, with strong links to the NLR INGO in the Netherlands. NLR Indonesia is committed to continue the work and achievements of the INGO NLR to create a world free of suffering caused by leprosy and by disability.
NLR Indonesia combats leprosy by cooperation with the National Leprosy Program and with local disabled peoples organization (DPO). NLR promotes and strengthens the early detection and treatment of leprosy, the organization promotes prevention of disabilities caused by leprosy by early detection and of self-care.
NLR cooperates with and supports organizations of persons affected by leprosy and of people with disabilities to remove the barriers to social inclusion that prevent them from full and independent participation in society. Our Vision: A world free of leprosy and its consequences; In Indonesia all persons affected enjoy living in an inclusive society, where their rights are fulfilled and where there is no leprosy, no stigma and discrimination. Our Mission: We prevent, detect and treat leprosy and support health, ability and full inclusion in society for persons affected by leprosy. We strengthen health care professionals, disabled peoples Organizations and communities. We inform society on leprosy and disability. We create evidence through innovative approaches, lessons learned from implementation and support up scaling with lobby and advocacy.
