Description

The Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (Swiss TPH) is a world-leading institute in global health with a particular focus on low- and middle-income countries. Associated with the University of Basel, Swiss TPH combines research, services, and education and training at local, national and international levels. Over 800 people from more than 70 nations work at Swiss TPH focusing on infectious and non-communicable diseases, environment, society and health as well as health systems and interventions. Swiss TPH implements projects on health systems and conducts policy research and development. Experts work on a wide range of research and development programmes aimed to support health policies and systems globally addressing policy relevant questions. They develop and apply methods to evaluate and validate health system interventions in real-world health systems and bring system thinking on to the central stage to strengthening health systems. Special attention is placed on measuring systems effectiveness of essential health interventions and assessing policies, recognising the interrelatedness of all health system components and stakeholders.
