Description
YBAW was established in February 2012 in Jakarta with the goal to emulate the values, ideas and struggles of the late President Abdurrahman Wahid (popularly known as Gus Dur). President Wahid was considered as the champion of democracy in Indonesia, also as one of most influential Moslem leaders in Indonesia. He had a world reputation as an advocate for promoting dialogue to solve ethnic and religious conflicts. He believed that a more just world order could only be achieved through dialogues and negotiations and not through confrontation and violence. YBAW was established by family members and close associates of Abdurrahman Wahid after he passed away.
